Log Grading
Spruce and white oak logs are supplied by grade: F, AB, ABC and BCD.
- Basic requirements: fresh cut, no worms, no insect holes, no corrosion, no blue stain, no shell fragments and no ring shake.
- F grade: four clean sides, diameter over 50 cm, straight shape and root part material.
- AB grade: three to four clean sides, diameter over 40 cm and only limited knot defects on one face.
- ABC and BCD grades allow broader quality ranges according to customer demand.
Unedged Board
Ash, white oak, beech and spruce unedged boards are supplied in A, AB, ABC and BC grades.
- A grade: mostly two clean faces, with limited knots or waterline on a small portion.
- AB grade: one clean face with controlled waterline or knots on the other face.
- ABC grade: mixed A, AB and BC quality according to agreed proportions.
- BC grade: most defects allowed except worms, insect holes and pith cracks.
Edged Board
Ash, white oak, beech and spruce edged boards are available in A, AB, ABC and BC grades.
- A grade: four clean faces with limited one-face knot or waterline defects.
- AB grade: waterline allowed with no knots in most pieces, and limited waterline plus knots in the remainder.
- ABC grade: mixed A, AB and BC grade boards based on agreed quality requirements.
- BC grade: most defects allowed except worms, insect holes and pith cracks.
